Pros and cons of Cabals: Magic & Battle Cards app for iPhone and iPad
Cabals: Magic & Battle Cards app good for
The game is very good
Multiplayer is very nice. AI for single player is very dumb and makes the game frustrating some times
Tut needs some help but this is a really good game when you know the rules
The gameplay is excellent but with a steep learning curve and little to no way to learn but through trial and error.
Fantastic game to take with you for a quick CCG fix with great art and flavour text. The tutorial is a little vague but anyone familiar with card or board games should have no issues. Theres already a planned expansion and the prices for boosters, etc. have just been halved. Theres the option of earning new cards through the single player game if spending money on cards isnt your thing too. Very impressed and the devs are very responsive to the community. I predict great things!
I have to admit, learning this game
Was no easy feat, as the game tut doesnt really tell u anything as to whats going on, but once youve played through the single/multiplayer game a few times youll soon get the hang of it and its an amazing game! One of the best trading card games for the iPhone! Id give it 5 star instead of 4 if they fix the tutorial :)
The artwork is beautiful, has an occult theme with a sort of Lovecraft feel. Cards use the same font as the popular card game Star Trek CCG but Im probably the only one whod be annoyed by that.
The game is easy to learn. It has more to do with grid movement and grid resource management than card combos. There isnt that much variation between the units and factions (so far). I havnt found really any deck building element to the game. Deck building is at least half of the CCG experience for me. There isnt much enticement to buy packs either.
The game lacks the complexity, flavor, and deck building possibilities to keep me playing it seriously, but hey it was designed to fit on iPhones and iPads. It fits the medium pretty well. Needs more cards and more ways to get them.
Some bad moments
Serious... 100 Dollar for all 4 playsets are a bad joke.
Minimum for onlineplay is one playset for 25 Dollar.
Thats just to much.
In Shadow Era i get for 20 Dollar ALL Cards.
Game is ok, price is a joke.
One of the worst tutorials ever. There is some kind of game in here but i dont have the patience to decrypt it. I am no stranger to card games on ipad (shadowera, kard combat) but this is an oblique mess. Went through tutorial, tried a few times, had no clue what was going on, deleted. And they expect me to buy iap? Make the game accessible, HOOK your audience and maybe then people will stay around longer than five minutes. You are already slanted to a niche market. Why go for a niche within a niche? Seems overpriced as well. Much more play value with card games like Shadowera, which dont even require money to actually play. I predict a complete a fail.
Forces you to login, and if you somehow lose your session midgame (or continue a game) you wont get the XP when you win. (-1*) No way to login during a game either.
Not a lot of card variety. (-1*)
No Game Center. (-1*)
The game idea is fine. Nothing original but still fun. The design/graphics are well done.
Hopefully theres an update coming.
Ive levelled up twice and I cant find the cards I was told Id won.
Good game if you can play a round.
Pros:
1. Easy to learn and fun
2. Well balanced cards and good game structure.
Cons:
1. Horrible horrible multiplayer game crashes (1/2 games no exaggeration) game crashes while sorting out deck as well almost every time. [fix crash period]
2. If you play against a person who purchased cards you cant win at all. [let people get cards, pick some rares to only buy]
3. No in game chat or out of game community site. This affects points 1 and 2 as you are just stuck playing whoever. [make a community site you made an app game?!?
4. No ability to trade cards. (oops me! I picked wrong branch and cannot employ them.)[reset account feature]
5. Only multiplayer boards used?!? The other boards would be good for multiplayer as well. [use them all]
Good game idea and fun needs to be tweaked. Maybe then you will get some of my money in exchange for some cards. I enjoy it when it works then quit playing out of lack of patience with bugs.
Updated version keeps shutting my game down. It doesnt save from where the game left off and have to start one all over again
